Sonny’s Spaw Changes in 2022

2022 will be bringing a lot of changes to Sonny’s Spaw. We are expanding by adding a Self Wash location in Sequim. This means I, Mary, won’t be around the salon anymore. Please remember to allow my staff plenty of grace during this transition. Sharon will be taking on the role of manager in my absence. If you have questions or concerns, kindly direct them to her. If you are unable to resolve the issue with her, she will refer you to me. Regardless of the issue, I do insist on my staff being treated with respect. A lot of you have been with me since the beginning and I am so grateful for your patience during this transition.

For our new clients, rest assured the same quality care for your pets will still be offered. All of us will be #fearfree certified before our return in January. These concepts are something we already apply, but I wanted to put resources into being certified. We will be the only grooming salon on the peninsula to have this certification, along with our PetTECH CPR and Firstaid certifications, you can trust your pets will always get the best care at Sonny’s Spaw. Continuing education is one of the things that sets us apart.

Last but not least, and not a popular topic for anyone, including myself, we are going to be doing a complete pricing restructure. Pricing is inconsistent for some dogs. I have never priced by breed because some of the “breeders” out there are not breeding for breed standards they are breeding for profit. So one female poodle may be the standard 55 pounds while another 75. We also consider things like texture in coat, behavior and overweight dogs (which can be very difficult to groom). Just like everything else, my product prices are going up. I am not willing to sacrifice quality to save a buck. My groomers work very hard and also deserve a raise. One of the benefits I have offered them is a matched retirement account and they deserve it! Some of you may end up paying more, some of you may end up paying less, some of you may not see a change at all. The restructure will go into affect in March, I will keep you all posted and hope you understand. If you don’t understand and have questions, please direct them to me, Mary. I make these decisions.

2021 has been a big year for growth, we hope to continue to serve the Sequim Pet Community in the best way possible. I am eternally grateful to you all for your continued support of Sonny’s Spaw and my staff. It’s been a challenging couple of years, but also an amazing couple of years.

Happy holidays to you all!!
Mary
