Let’s face it, paying for a service (or anything really) is painful. Occasionally, new clients who have transferred from other salons in the community express surprise at our pricing: “You guys are so expensive!” “I only paid $40 at my old groomer!” “That’s more than my haircut!” You’re right, we are more expensive. But you can’t compare us to a groomer grooming out of their home or on their property. It’s two very different things, in two very different economies.

Every pet in our care is treated as our own, their needs come above all else, sometimes that even means we shouldn’t groom them, so we send them home and without getting paid. We provide the best quality care for every pet. All of my employees are #fearfreecertified and PetTech CPR and Firstaid trained. We are able to safely groom some dogs that not a lot of other groomers have the experience or patience to. We spend a tremendous amount of time socializing with our new dog clients so they can trust us. This is time don’t get paid for. I, the salon owner, am a graduate of a certified grooming school, and pass that knowledge onto my groomers, I also pay for all of their continuing education, which they are happy to do. Our salon is clean, we take sanitation very seriously. The salon is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and products, as is the self-wash. We clean and sanitize between each bath/groom and there is always someone on-hand to help you with the self-wash. As the owner, I go over my insurance policy annually, to ensure your pets are fully covered in the unfortunate possibility of an accident, as well as providing fraud protection for you if your information should ever be compromised from our POS. As an employer, I pay my employees above board, legally. I don’t cut corners to avoid taxes. They are paid a living wage, as much as I can afford. I also contribute to their medical premiums. My staff are worthy of living financially secure lives.
When you ask why my prices are so high, these are some of the best reasons why. You are free to shop around, but I won’t apologize for the services we offer at the prices we ask for. If you can find cheaper, just be sure you’re taken care of if something goes wrong on the grooming table.
