Meet Sharon, Our New Groomer

I am thrilled to welcome Sharon Zimny to the Sonnys Spaw family! She brings an amazing energy that pets gravitate towards, even the ones typically more challenging to groom. That’s pretty awesome! Take it away Sharon!

“Please let me tell you a little about myself. I’m originally from a small town called Coxsackie in upstate New York, but I’ve been living in Oklahoma for the last 39 years. About 35 years ago I got a job bathing dogs a The Groom Closet. They soon started my training to become a professional dog and cat groomer and I’ve worked my way to being Shop Manager for the past 13 years at The Pet Salon.

Over my many years of grooming, I’ve become very good with the very old and have earned the trust and affection of some of the most difficult dogs, so much so that people started calling me a ‘dog whisperer’. I also whisper cat pretty good too.

At one point in time I raised exotic birds, so I know a little about them too! In fact, I still have two of my babies that I hand-raised, Latino (bright yellow) Indian ring-neck parakeets. They are 22 years old now; their names are Shere Khan and Mowgli from The Jungle Book.

But my heart and soul is all about grooming, I love what I do. It’s not like work, it’s more like I’m taking care of my pet family—I just don’t get to take them home with me.

My husband Brian and I came to Washington on vacation and we fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula and knew we wanted to move here. We’re empty nesters, but we do have a couple of fur babies. One is our German Shepard, Shimmer, and the other is our Siamese cat, Silver.

We also have three grown children between us and we’ve been blessed with two grandsons and two granddaughters.

I can’t wait to meet everyone and I’m hoping I become a good fit for your community.

Thank you,
Sharon
